Let’s face it, every time you’ve visited the thundering cascade of Niagara Falls, you’ve wanted to get just a little closer. The jewel of every Canadian bucket list, Niagara is constantly evolving with enhanced views and new experiences. And this summer you can see it all from the sky!
Buckle up for Niagara Takes Flight, Ontario’s first, fully immersive flying-theatre ride. Racing along the river, soaring through an epic, cinematic journey captured with drone footage, you’ll be suspended in gondola-style seating that’s been enhanced with sensory effects like wind and mist as passengers experience the illusion of free-flight. Get closer than ever to the Canadian Horseshoe Falls while 2,800 cubic metres of water thunders over the 670-metre-wide crest.
Before you fly, the hypnotic pre-show experience sets the stage. Featuring narration by Hollywood icon and Niagara-born filmmaker, James Cameron, the audio-visual experience blends geological forces and Indigenous cultures, tracing 13,000 years of history. Learn how Niagara Falls eroded over time and how it became the world-famous natural wonder we all know today.
Traversing through rooms of time, the journey begins in the Ancestors Room, amid stunning original artwork by local Indigenous artist, Sara General. Gather around the fire while Elders share creation stories passed down through generations—honouring the land, its spirits and the knowledge carried through time by Indigenous Peoples. Next, the Waterfall Room, explores the industrial milestones and innovations that turned the Falls into an engine of power and a renowned destination of romance and fun. Finally, inside the Transporter, an old elevator infused with historic artifacts descends deep into the launch chamber before the sheer power of water rockets you up into the sky for a never-before-seen-view of the region and its breathtaking landscapes.
Once airborne, you’ll fly like a bird across all four seasons, gliding over swirling rapids, steep rock faces and lush forests. Marvel with wide-eyed wonder at vistas that are impossible to enjoy any other way.
Open year-round on the upper level of Table Rock Centre, just steps from the Horseshoe Falls, the full Niagara Takes Flight experience lasts about 35 minutes, including the six-minute “flight” presented on a spectacular 17-metre domed screen. The journey may be brief, but the memories, like the ever-flowing river whose tale it tells, will last forever.
You may think you’ve seen Niagara Falls before, but you’ve never seen it quite like this! (www.niagaraparks.com/flight).
